NNWS won the league championship Thursday night at Amelia Park, defeating defending champ Mortgage Corp. 8-2 and 7-1. It marked the third title in four years for NNWS.
Needing to win two games to capture the championship, NNWS had the bats going from start to finish.
In the first game, they scored a pair of runs in each of four innings and Lisa Hotte picked up the win.
Chris Beaulieu had a double and two singles and Janice Marcil had three singles. Paula Morley and Kayla Rose chipped in with two hits each. The others went to Steff Hotte, Francine Hotte and Julia Hancock.
Ann Renee Guillemette took the loss.
Melissa Cross had three hits and Kerri Milne a pair for Mortgage Corp. Jessica Nelson and Krystal Chartrand had singles.
In the second game, NNWS scored twice in the fourth to snap a 0-0 tie
and broke the game open with four in the sixth and another in the seventh.
Lisa Hotte again went the distance to record the win and Sylvie Corbeil took the loss.
Francine Hotte had four singles and Lisa Hotte a double and single. Steff Hotte collected a pair of singles. Hancock also doubled with Morley, and Donna Murdoch adding singles.
Cross had a double for Mortgage Corp with Milne Chartrand,
Guillemette and Kindra Houle collecting singles.
The league’s annual dinner and awards night will be held Thursday Aug. 11 at Partners Billiards and Bowling, 361 Main Street East. Cost is $15 per person and everyone is welcome. Starting time is 6 p.m.
