NDA Football season underway (PHOTOS)

Bears blank the Trojans in season opener

The NDA senior football opener was a hot and well-fought battle between last years finalists, with the Bears blanking the Trojans by a score of 28-0.

Scoring was hard to come by for the first 22 minutes until a late interception and touchdown return by the Bears defensive back Connor Doyle.

The Trojans blocked the extra point and the half ended with the Bears leading 6-0.

In the second half, both teams moved the ball well, but the Bears were able to capitalize on their drives with Evan Desrosiers catching two touchdown passes from Bears quarterback Matteo Pavone and Jonah Tignanelli adding a late score on the ground.

Matteo Pavone added a conversion and Evan Desrosiers caught a two-point conversion.

Under the lights, the Widdifield Wildcats and Algonquin Barons senior squads clashed at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.

The Barons came out on top with a convincing 41-12 win over the Wildcats.
