This past weekend the North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers 12U Girls competed at the Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Championships.

The team was ranked 10th in Division 2 going into the tournament.

The two-day tournament was held at RIM Park in Waterloo with 46 teams competing at the 12UG level.

It was a disappointing opening day of competition but the local team would come back strong on day 2 of the competition.

The girls took the quarterfinal game 2-0 against the Galaxy Flames from Toronto (25-8, 25-23).

The semi-final proved a tough match going to 3 sets against the Orillia Suns Galaxy (23-25, 25-18, 14-16).

This sent the Lakers to the Bronze medal match in Division 2 Tier 2.

They faced the Ancaster Lions in this tough match.

Once again the girls fought hard and captured the bronze with a win in the third set (25-13, 16-25, 15-13).
