Muldoon, Violo OUA all-stars (new)

Anna Violo, a third-year goalkeeper and rookie midfielder Stephanie Muldoon of the Nipissing University Lady Lakers have been named to the North/South second all-star team in the OUA women’s soccer division.
Muldoon an Oakville native, enrolled in the OTT program, had a terrific rookie season starting at the midlfield position, scoring two goals in nine games played.
“She is a fierce competitor and always gives 110 percent for 90 minutes,” said Lakers head coach Vito Castiglione. “Stephanie’s desire to win and passionate style of play earned her this well deserved recognition. She was a pleasure to coach this year.”
Two-time all-star Violo played in seven games for the Lady Lakers in backstopping them to two wins. She posted a 2.857 goals against average and recorded 56 saves on 67 shots faced. Violo is a third year veteran majoring in sociology.
“Anna made some timely saves that kept us in many games,” said Castiglione. “She is a very confident goalie and is not afraid of challenging the opposition. Anna has a passion for the game and a great work ethic.
“The recognition of allstar is well deserved by both players.” added Castiglione.

The women’s Final Four starts Saturday at Queen’s University in Kingston. The schedule is as follows:

Semifinals
Noon - Toronto vs. Queen's
2 p.m. - Laurentian vs. Western

Sunday
1 p.m.: Bronze medal game
1:30 p.m.: Gold medal game

In the men’s Final Four at Western, Western meets Brock and Toronto plays Carleton in the Saturday semifinals. The bronze and gold medal games will be played Sunday.
