The Nipissing Men and Women's varsity hockey teams had mixed results over the weekend.

On Friday, The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team dropped their contest to Ontario Tech by a final of 3-0.

Lakers netminder Brett Epp was busy and solid in net in a losing cause for Nipissing.

Next up for the Lakers is a road trip to Kingston to take on the Queens Gaels and RMC Paladins next weekend to close out the first half of the season.

Meantime, the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team picked up a 3-1 win over the Rams today on the road, capping off the first half of the season with a win.

Malory Dominico, Emma Neff and Marilyn Fortin all scored, while Chloe Marshall finished with 23 saves in the victory.

Lakers head coach Darren Turcotte says Saturday's win was a great bounce back after a less than stellar performance on Wednesday when they fell 4-1 to the Ryerson Rams.

"We were not happy with the way we performed at home but put it behind us a came up with a big effort on the road,"said Lakers head coach Darren Turcotte.

"We were much more sound defensively and our penalty killers did an excellent job all night long."

The NU girls finish the first semester with a 5-1-0 record.
