Mike Yeo connects with local peewee team

'Mr. Yeo provided our boys with inspiration and an exciting experience they will never forget'

The West Ferris Wallace Klein Partners in Law Major Peewee AA Trappers had an amazing experience in Ottawa last week.

The local team had an opportunity to connect with North Bay’s very own Mike Yeo, who is the head coach of the St. Louis Blues.

Yeo and his Blues team were in Ottawa, and during their game-day practice at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday, January 18th, the North Bay native arranged a meet and greet with the local peewee team and Blues players including scoring star Vladimir Tarasenko and goaltending legend Martin Brodeur, whose father once worked in North Bay.

“Mr. Yeo provided our boys with inspiration and an exciting experience they will never forget,” stated Trappers head coach Richard Cazabon.

“He reminded them of the importance of teammates, and the roles each of them play, together, as a team.  He inspired them so much, we proceeded to tie Nepean the 4th ranked team in Ontario 3-3 in the tourney opener and they were eventually the tournament winning team.

“The boys displayed grit, played with heart and as a team all weekend long.”

The Trappers finished with a 1-2-1 record at the Ottawa tournament but certainly, the Blues visit will be something the peewee aged boys will never forget.
