The Kapuskasing Flyers are moving on to the Great North Midget League final as they defeated the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers 9-3 at West Ferris arena on Sunday afternoon in game 4 of the best-of-five GNML quarterfinal series.

The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the weekend action but the Flyers took control with a 7-3 win in game 3 on Saturday night and followed up with a lopsided win in the Trappers elimination game on Sunday afternoon.

Nathaniel McLeod, Tyler Peters and Cole Filiatrault scored for the homeside in the loss that ends the Midget AAA Trappers season.

For rookie Trappers head coach Mike Reise, the 9-3 loss was an outcome he wasn't expecting.

"We played a better first period than yesterday and our plan was to really limit our mistakes in our own end," said Reise.

"That ended up being what cost us this game and the series. It was a fantastic year and the boys really showed that when they're on their game, they can compete with the best. We've got a great group of kids eligible to return for another year, so I'm excited about that as well. Hopefully we find another league MVP too."
