Midget AA Ice Boltz win Challenge Cup

It was yet another successful week-end for the Girls Midget AA Ice Boltz. The team participated in the Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Canada/USA Challenge Cup and came home with a tournament championship.


It was yet another successful week-end for the Girls Midget AA Ice Boltz.

The team participated in the Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Canada/USA Challenge Cup and came home with a tournament championship.

In the round-robin against USA team the team went 4-0 defeating Team Alaska 1-0 on shut-out goaltending by Alexx Riding and a tally by all-Canadian Corie Jacobson.

In the second match-up the Boltz had another shut out by Sabrina Picard in defeating Detroit Little Ceasars 4-0. Markers in that game were Jacobson, Kaitlyn McManus, Julie Vaillancourt and Sarah Verbeek.

In their third game versus Chicago Mission they came out on top 3-1. Scorers were Alexane Papineau, Erin Earle and Taylor McManus.

In the fourth game of the round robin a overtime goal by Chloe Dion won the game 3-2 versus Pittsburgh Penguins Elite.

The other scorers were Taylor McManus and Taylor Murphy.

As the top Canadian team in the preliminaries they faced the top American team the Chicago Mission.

That game ended up 4-1 with goals from Dion, Tonisha Maisoneuve, Julie Vaillancourt and Kaitlyn Mcmanus to become the gold medallists.

This coming weekend they face the Whitby Wolves in two Memorial Gardens games on Sunday. Game times are 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
