The Senior Varsity Bulldogs took on the TNT Express at Omischl on Sunday in what was a rematch of last week's season opener also at Omischl.

This week's 29-0 win saw the Bulldogs score 1 less TD than in the previous week, which was mainly a result of TNT Express putting together more drives this game over last.

Defensively the Bulldogs seemed to yield more field position to the TNT Express than last week as the ball found its way into Bulldogs territory much more this week than last.

The Bulldogs defense held tough in the red zone forcing a field goal attempt which was missed and run out of the end zone by Michael Paquet. Once again with TNT in the red zone, Express QB flushed out of the pocket looked to get the ball in the end zone. Michael Paquet put out a great effort with a diving catch interception on the 1-yard line to turn the ball over to the Bulldogs offense.

Powered behind a solid rushing game the Bulldogs drove out of their own end and capped the drive with a 58-yard pass and run play to Evan Desrosiers to put the Bulldogs up 22-0. Earlier in the game, the offensive line and edge blockers paved the way for a solid rushing outing for standout running back Ryan McColeman. McColeman put in a full day's work gaining 133 yards on the ground on 22 carries scoring twice and gaining 26 yards on 1 reception.

The passing game saw the ball spread around to 9 different receivers. Jonathan Warren led the receiving corp with 5 receptions gaining 55 yards and scoring once, while Evan Desrosier caught on a big one for a 58 yd TD and Conor Doyle snagged 3 passes for 59 yards contributing to the 244 yards passing for QB Mason McGriskin. McGriskin completed 17 passes on 25 attempts and 2 TD’s on the day with everyone on the receiver depth chart catching a ball.

Overall the Dogs finished with 138 yds rushing on 23 carries and 244 yards passing on 17 completions in 25 attempts.

McColeman scored 2 TDs on the ground while Jonathan Warren and Desrosiers each scored a receiving TD.

Senior Bulldogs falter in Sudbury

Later on Saturday evening in Sudbury the Bulldogs took on the Sudbury Spartans in NFC action. Going into the game short on players, mainly in the line position groups the Bulldogs were not able to control the line of scrimmage and were dominated from start to finish in a humbling 62-6 loss.

Unable to control the line of scrimmage, the Bulldogs were unable to generate any rhythm on offense and found it difficult to slow down the Spartan rushing game, giving up over 200 yards of rushing.

"We have an incredible core group of skilled players on this team, but we are short on linemen,” said head coach Marc Mathon.

“We are able to sign people through until July and if we are able to add linemen to our core we will be able to generate some wins.”

The Senior Bulldogs host the Josh Gauthier, the NFC's all-time leading rusher and the Sault Steelers next weekend June 9th at Omischl, 6:30 p.m.

Junior Varsity Bulldogs humbled by Rebels

The Junior Varsity Bulldogs traveled this week to take on the Vaughn Rebels and were met with a strong and well-experienced team where they were lost 57-0.

The first half saw the Rebels take full advantage of their size advantage and Bulldogs mistakes to jump out with 6 TD’s.

The Junior Varsity Bulldogs head into game 4 with a 1-2 record.

Bantam Bulldogs hold off Rebels

The Bantam Bulldogs were on the road visiting the Vaughn Rebels in OPFL action Saturday.

The Bulldogs took the ball down the field on the opening drive before stalling at the Rebels 15-yard line, on fourth down they attempted a field that sailed wide and went out the back of the end zone to open the scoring for a 1-0 lead.

The defense held the Rebels on their opening drive to only 10 total yards before turning it over on downs, the Bulldogs once again went down the length of the field this time scoring on a run through the middle by Aidan Bowles to put The Bulldogs up 8-0 after the extra point was made by Janik Vezina.

On the Rebels next drive they broke off a long run to bring the game to 8-7,

However, on the next two offensive series the Bulldogs opened it up and Riley Huter hit Quintin Vega-Goulais with two long passes both for scores making it 20-7 at the half.

In the second half, The Rebels scored again and the Bulldogs added another score as well to make it 26-14 in the fourth quarter,

The Rebels were driving in the fourth quarter when Emilie Perron made a great read on the ball to record The Bulldogs first interception of the season, and on the next drive Cameron Dowdall recorded a strip sack and recovered the football to stall another Rebels drive.

Head coach Eric Morgan saw a lot of good things in Saturday's game.

"I can’t say enough about this defense, they keep coming up big for us late in the game," said the Bantam coach.

"The offense moved the ball well today and we saw some big steps forward."

The Bantam Dogs are back to work on Wednesday getting ready to host the first place Woodstock Wolverines at 3:30 on June 9 at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.
