John McClelland saw an opportunity and he took it. When Mike Jakubo accepted a job in the Toronto area, his rink which represented Northern Ontario at last year's Tim Horton's Brier needed a new skip.

It was a perfect fit, since his rink of Gerry and Greg Cantin along with Derek Desilets dissolved at the end of the Brier playdowns last year.

"They were short a player and I was short three players and we just went from there," McClelland said Thursday morning from his North Bay home.

"It's going to be good, all the experience I've gained with the Patterson rink is going to help us in the long run and I think it should be a very good season."

The team, consisting of McClelland, Jon Solberg (3rd), Luc Ouimet (2nd) and Lee Toner (lead) will play out of the Copper Cliff Curling Club will have a mixed schedule including events on both the World and Northern Ontario curling tours along with the Brier playdowns.
