Mathieu wins gold at Ottawa figure skating event

Five North Bay Figure Skating Club members competed in the 12th Annual Skate Canada-Eastern Ontario Autumn Skate event this weekend.
Five North Bay Figure Skating Club members competed in the 12th Annual Skate Canada-Eastern Ontario Autumn Skate event this weekend. This competition attracted over 800 participants from across Canada and for many of these skaters it was their first experience with the new Cumulative Points Calculation Judging System.

Chad Mathieu won the Gold medal in the Junior Men’s Event. Mathieu was first after the Short Program with a 10 point lead. In the FreeSkate portion of the event he placed 1st increasing his lead by 4 points winning the gold medal by 14 points with a personal best score of 100.77 points. Mathieu is coached by Debbie Cottrill-Olivier and Sharon Lajeunesse.
