The small but mighty team from Mapleridge Public School in Powassan went a perfect 6-0 to capture the gold medal at the Elementary Girl’s Basketball tournament hosted by the École élémentaire publique Héritage Dragons.
Gritty defense and a can-do attitude helped the 8 member Mustangs eke out a number of close wins on their way to the championship. The girls have been practicing hard for over a month and came a long way since the beginning, the school and community are very proud of their achievement.
The 13 team tournament had teams from schools from North Bay, West Nipissing, Powassan, and Corbeil.
