Manitoulin goes Wild on Skyhawks

The Manitoulin Wild scored 3 goals in the first six and a half minutes of the first period en route to a convincing 7-3 victory over the North Bay Skyhawks on Manitoulin Island Friday night.

It was a "Wild" first period, as the team's exchanged seven goals in the opening frame. The Wild built up the early three goal league, before the red hot rookie Yves Bastien got the Hawks on the board almost 11 minutes into the game.

Bastien's second goal of the contest was the lone marker in the the second period bringing the Hawks within 2 goals heading into the third period.

The Wild finished off the Hawks in the final frame as Ken May notched a pair of goals including an empty netter. May finished with three goals on the night, while former Skyhawk Jason Gauthier added a pair for the Wild.

The two teams hook up again Saturday night on Manitoulin Island. Saturday's game will be the Skyhawks last before the Christmas break.
