Major Midget AAA Trappers win gold again

Trappers go unbeaten to win their third tournament of the season

The North Bay & District Major Midget AAA Trappers won their third tournament of the season, beating the Mississauga Reps 2-1 in the final of the Peterborough Minor Petes Steve Richey Tournament of Champions, which concluded on Sunday in Peterborough. 

The Trappers went unbeaten through the round robin and playoff format.  Defenceman Ben Brunette led the Trappers with five goals in the tournament.  

The Trappers opened with a 3-1 win over the Quinte Red Devils on Thursday, then they blanked the London Jr. Knights 5-0 Friday morning and then knocked off the Burlington Eagles 4-1 on Friday. 

On Saturday morning they edged the Kitchener Jr. Rangers 4-3 moving them to the quarter-finals on Saturday night where they once again met the Rangers and slipped by them 2-1. 

In the semi-finals, the Trappers edged the Niagara North Stars 2-1 to set up the final. 

The Trappers also captured gold at tournaments in Ottawa and Waterloo this season.  The Trappers also sit on top of the Great North Midget League standings with a perfect 30-0 record.
