The North Bay Trappers major midget AAA team went undefeated in the 2018 Ottawa Senators showcase tournament this past weekend with a near perfect record of 5-0-2.

Noah Lagrandeur and Nat Lalonde scored for the Trappers as they defeat the Clarington Toros 2-1 in the final on Sunday afternoon.  Justin Dauphinais scored both goals for the Trappers in the tournament victory.

Guy Blanchard, the Trappers head coach, says the team got better as the tournament moved along.

"After our second game, we knew we could play much better as a team and much better defensively,” said Blanchard as his squad opened with a ties against Kemptville (4-4), and the Quinte Red Devils (3-3).

“The boys executed and refined their game to near perfection and we just gained confidence as a team as the games went on.  We could not be more proud of all of them and how they overcame fatigue and injuries in order to sacrifice for the player next to them. Everyone on this team played a key role in this championship and how they came together was the real victory in it all.”

The Trappers were able to bounce back from a pair of ties with a key 4-1 victory over the  Mississauga Reps.

They rolled along beating Hawkesbury Hawks 2-1 and then dumped the Rockland Nationals 2-0.  Battalion prospect Reece Proulx had the shutout for the Trappers.

In the semi-final on Sunday morning the Trappers slipped by the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 2-1.

Noah Lagrandeur and Nat Lalonde scored for the Trappers in the semi-final win.

Trappers forward Zach Lefebvre was named tournament MVP.
