The North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers season sadly came to a heartbreaking end on Sunday afternoon at Countryside arena in Sudbury.

Matt Dokis Dupius scored a power play goal late in the first overtime to give the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves a 2-1 win in game four of the best-of-five Great North Midget League final.  The Trappers opened with a convincing win in game one in Temiscaming but then dropped the next three straight to the Wolves, who won the Great North Midget League Title for the second year in a row.

Cole Craft opened the scoring for the Trappers in the first period on a power play.

It stayed that way until near the midway point of the third period when Parker Savard netted the equalizer on another Wolves power play.

The Wolves put the Trappers on the brink of elimination with a tight 2-1 win on Friday night in Temiscaming.

The Trappers had to look for a different venue for the GNML finals with the 2018 Ford Women's Curling Championships taking over Memorial Gardens.

The Nickel Capital Wolves won the title last year over the Trappers in the fifth and deciding game at Memorial Gardens last spring.
