Former teammates were the story of the day for Tom Hedican's Coach4Food Program. Former Scollard Hall Bear star Ed Kilroy sponsored both the Canadian Tire Atoms and Coleman Concrete Atoms to help them add 3,642 pounds to this year's drive, while former North Bay Trapper stars and teammates Tom Diggles and Joe Omicioli presented Hedican with a cheque for more than $5,000 from the Trappers Hockey Alumni Association, to give the program a major shot in the arm.

Added to that, OCP Construction Supplies and Byron Building Supplies matched their staff donations to add another $1,280.

And now with 22,500 pounds in proceeds from the Blue Jean Ball, held in the fall, added to this year's program, the fundraiser has skyrocketed to 88,511 pounds.

There are only 2 days remaining in the 2012 program with the final total being announced Monday, December 24th.

All those organizations or individuals collecting around the city are asked to email their totals to [email protected] no later than Dec 21, to be added into the final tally. As well, any others who wish to make a financial contribution to Coach4Food and the Food Bank are asked to do so by Dec 22.

The 2012 total will be announced Monday, Dec. 24.

Hedican, a professional goaltending consultant, is running practices using NHL and European skill drills for teams which do food drives for the North Bay Food Bank.
