Ayden Michaud finishes off another early morning practice at the YMCA pool.

The season is finished for the rest of her Titans teammates, but Ayden is still training hard.

You see, the 14-year-old who is heading to St. Joseph-Scollard Hall this fall, has been invited to compete for the Team Aboriginal Ontario swim team at the North American Indigenous Games which will take place July 16th to 22nd in Toronto.

Michaud, whose specialty events are the Fly and Freestyle, still doesn’t know what swim events she will be competing in.

That is part of the excitement.

“I keep thinking in my head, am I going to do well or will I fail and be really slow, but I am super excited,” said the soft-spoken Titans swimmer.

“I met with one of the coaches at festivals and it was nice to meet her.”

Michaud has been one of the top swimmers for her age category (13-14) in the city this season and she thanks her coaches and parents for supporting her as she prepares to compete on the biggest stage so far in her young career.

“I think it’s been a breakthrough and it’s a great opportunity for myself because then it means you are training for something,” she said.
