Local Coach named to Canada Games Coaching Staff Vision Volleyball Club Head Coach Danny Gosselin has been named to the coaching staff of the boy’s volleyball program for the 2021 Canada Games in Niagara Falls.

Gosselin will be rounding out a very highly qualified staff of Head Coach Frank St. Denis of Ottawa Mavericks Volleyball Club and Assistant Coach Matthew Ragogna from the Niagara Rapids. St. Denis has been part of the National Team coaching staff in previous years as well a High-Performance Technical Director with Ontario Volleyball.

Having collaborated with St. Denis on previous projects, Coach Gosselin is looking forward to this new adventure. The Canada Games, which are held every four years is the largest multi-sport event in the country.

Each Province sends its top athletes for two weeks of amazing competition and sport culture. Preparation for an event such as these games requires a three-year commitment of the coaching staff. They will dedicate most of their time over this winter assessing players for invites to attend selection camps in the spring.

Once the team is picked, they will compete in many events during their training process. Events such as US Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Canada Cup happening this summer in Halifax.

“All of us who represent the Vision brand in both our volleyball and weightlifting programs are extremely proud of Danny for this fantastic accomplishment," said David Culin, Vision Volleyball President.

Even though we are a small Club in a small market, it is proven that given hard work, and countless hours of commitment and dedication to our sport, great things can be achieved. Congratulations Danny! You make us all proud.”

Coach Gosselin a long-time volleyball coach in North Bay is very honoured to be able to work with this team and represent his Club and Province.

He has been involved at all levels of coaching within the OVA. Danny has been involved with four National Championship teams throughout his coaching career and most recently a Mentor Coach for OVA Team Ontario white. At every level, he has helped develop athletes and coaches through his athletic knowledge and love of competitive sport.

Locally, Coach Gosselin is one of Vision Volleyball’s founders and current Club Technical Director. He currently coaches the Vision 12UG and 15UG teams. In his spare time, he operates and runs the Vision High-Performance Centre, a training centre for the Clubs weightlifting team which competes in the Ontario Weightlifting circuit.
