Local athletes shining at NAIG Games

Local athletes bringing home all medal colors from the North American Indigenous Games which are taking place in Toronto

A handful of North Bay area athletes will be coming home with some hardware thanks to some impressive individual performances at the North American Indigenous Games which are taking place this week in Toronto.  

Swimmer Ayden Michaud, representing Aboriginal Team Ontario, had a big medal haul taking home four medals.

The Titans Swimmer grabbed a silver in the 800m freestyle, and three bronze medals in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay, 200m individual medley and the 200m freestyle.  

Meantime St. Joseph-Scollard Hall student Shkaabews Tabobandung won gold in the U16 3000m singles kayak event, while Algonquin’s Zeyana Laplante won a pair of golds in the U19 3000m and 1000m single’s kayak events.  

The NAIG Games in Toronto wrap up today.
