And it is the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team, as they are now the only undefeated team in the OUA thanks to a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting Western Mustangs Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gardens.

The Lakers used goals in the first and second period, some great forechecking and an outstanding effort in net from Jackie Rochefort to earn their fourth win of the season and hand Western their first loss of 2016-17.

Nipissing scored in the first period, as Taylor Murphy snapped home a shot that clipped the crossbar and dropped straight down into the net.

The goal would turn out to be the game-winner and was Murphy's first of the season during her two games.

Linemates Brooklyn Irwin and Kaley Tienhaara picked up assists on the goal.

Nipissing would find the back of the net once again in the second period, as Bronwyn Bolduc continued her hot start, scoring her league-leading fourth goal of the season.

Like Murphy's goal, Bolduc's two linemates drew assists on the goal.

Kaitlyn McManus did a great job of getting the puck up to Sam Strassburger, who took the Western defender wide and saucered a perfect pass to Bolduc who redirected the puck into the back of the net.

From there, it was all Rochefort.

She made 27 saves in total for her first shutout of the year to propel the Lakers to a 4-0-0 start.

Nipissing has been perfect through four games, winning twice on the road last weekend and twice at home this weekend and they will now hit the road for five straight games, before returning home November 18.

Lakers dump Lancers

Meantime on Friday the Lakers trio of Sam Strassburger, Bronwyn and Bolduc and Kaitlyn McManus continued their hot play.

The trio combined for six points and two goals as the Lakers dominated the Windsor Lancers on their way to a 3-1 victory Friday night in North Bay.

The Lakers outshot the Lancers 38-22 and built up a 3-0 lead, as they cruised to

another victory – their first at home this season.

The Lakers opened the scoring as Taylor McManus fired a point shot off a Windsor defender and into the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.

The goal, McManus’ first in the OUA, was the only goal in the first two periods, despite Nipissing peppering 29 shots towards the Lancers net through 40 minutes.

Things picked up a bit in the third, with three goals being scored, including two more from the Lakers.

Bolduc picked up the insurance goal on a nice 2-on-1 with Strassburger, who saucered a nice feed to her linemate who made no mistake.

Kaitlyn McManus picked up the additional assist on the goal.

Nipissing would put the game away with a third goal – a power play marker by Kaitlyn McManus, matching her sister’s earlier tally.

Bolduc and Strassburger earned assists on the goal, giving that line two points each and 13 points combined through three victories so far.

Bolduc and Strassburger lead the OUA in points.

Rochefort wasn’t very busy until midway through the second, but finished with 21 saves, seeing her shutout ruined late in the game on a nice shot by Lancers forward Danielle Butler.
