Make it two in a row for the Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team.

The Lakers posted their second win of 2019, shutting out the UOIT Ridgebacks Friday night on home ice, by a final of 2-0.

Brent Moran was perfect in net and two third period goals led Nipissing to the victory – their second straight.

After two scoreless periods, Danny Desrochers scored what turned out to be the game-winner shorthanded early in the third.

Deverick Ottereyes added the empty-netter late in the period to seal the victory.

Moran was great, turning aside 34 shots for the win and shutout.

The Lakers will look to make it a perfect weekend Saturday when they host the Queens Gaels.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

Meantime on the court, the Lakers varsity men's basketball team was edged 76-73 by the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Leading the way offensively for the #Lakers was Quintin Ashitei with 18 points, Marcus Lewis ad 15 and Justin Hill added 14 in the contest.

Nipissing will host Carleton Saturday night at 8 p.m.

The Lakers women's basketball team fell 78-47 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees.  They host the Carleton Ravens at 6 p.m. Saturday at the RJS Athletic Centre.
