The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball have regained the number one ranking in the country as the CCAA released its National rankings Tuesday January 8.

The Lakers fresh off a golden performance in Quebec City, Quebec proved that depth is not an issue on this roster. Several Lakers starters saw limited action as they continued to recover from injury forcing coach Yung to get creative with his line-ups. To the teams credit they responded to the adversity and delivered in crunch time.

The Lakers will now look ahead to what will be a crucial weekend. Friday the Lakers will travel to Ancaster to face the Redeemer Royals, which is the only team to have beaten the Lakers this season. Saturday the Lakers will take on the tenacious Mohawk Mountaineers (5-4) who always give the Lakers all they can handle.

On the women’s side the Lakers are ranked 12th up one spot. The Lakers claimed silver in Quebec City and look to create some momentum in the second half. The Lakers are third in the West division with a 7-2 regular season record.
