Lakers net bronze in Barrie

Lakers won bronze in the Trillium White F Division at the OVA Provincial Cup

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club U16 Lakers Blue Team won bronze in the Trillium White F division at the OVA Provincial Cup tournament in Barrie this past weekend.  

After finishing second in round robin play in the morning of the tournament with one win and one loss (26-24, 25-22 vs Collingwood Black Diamonds and 19-25, 15-25 vs Georgian Cubs Kodiak) the girls advanced to the cross over game of which they needed to win to secure a chance at medals. They defeated Northern Polar Chill (Sudbury) 25-21, 18-25 and 15-11 to advance to the medal rounds.

The girls then lost their semi-final game to Georgian Cubs Ambush 18-25 and 15-25 to move to the bronze medal game. The NBYVC Lakers team won a hard-fought battle in their final game in three sets vs Georgian Cubs Everest 22-25, 25-21 and 16-14 to capture the bronze medal.
