Lakers men's season ends in Kingston

The Nipissing Lakers Varsity Men's hockey season came to an end on Friday night as they were defeated 6-1 at the hands of the Queen's Gaels in Kingston on Friday night.  

The Lakers opened the best-of-three playoff series with a tight 4-3 overtime loss on Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens. 

With the score 2-1 after 40 minutes, the Gaels exploded for four goals in the final frame to secure the win and sweep through the first round of the playoff series.  

Chad Thibodeau had the lone tally for the Lakers in the second period.  

Brent Moran made 36 saves in the setback.   

Queen's is coached by former North Bay Centennial Brett Gibson.
