The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team is heating up again after recording their third straight win and 13th overall.

The Lakers shutout the visiting Ryerson Rams 2-0 Friday night, using a goal in the second and third period, plus a great effort from goalie Jackie Rochefort to pick up the victory.

The teams were scoreless through 20 minutes, with Ryerson leading 10-7 on the shot clock.

Bronwyn Bolduc scored the eventual game-winner in the second period, finding the back of the net for the 10th time this season.

The assist went to Alexane Papineau on the game’s opening goal. Shots were 20-15 in favour of Ryerson after 40 minutes, but Rochefort stood tall and kept Nipissing ahead.

In the third, Jade Gauthier sealed the victory with a goal that made it 2-0 which ended up being more than enough. From there, Rochefort took over, finishing with 25 saves for the win and the shutout. Nipissing outshot Ryerson 10-5 in the final period, evening up the shots through 60 minutes.

The Lakers, who are just two points back of Guelph for first in the OUA, will host the Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday night at 7:50 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
