Lady Panthers lose two games (new)

HAMILTON — Canadore College Lady Panthers dropped a pair of games to Mohawk College Mountaineers in OCAA women’s fastball action Friday. The Lady Panthers had a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game and lost 6-5.
HAMILTON — Canadore College Lady Panthers dropped a pair of games to Mohawk College Mountaineers in OCAA women’s fastball action Friday.

The Lady Panthers had a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game and lost 6-5. They were then defeated 11-0 in the second game.

Canadore had six triples in the first game including three in a row in the top of the seventh,

Leigh Anne Taylor took the loss striking out three and walking two.

Melissa Cross, Taylor, Lynsey Snowball and Jen Nychuk had two hits apiece with Stephanie Bourassa adding the other hit.

Cross, Taylor and Snowball hit the three triples in the seventh. Snowball, Nychuk and Bourassa also had earlier triples.

Krystal Eckersall, battling back from an arm injury, was the winner.

Lacey Hill and Jenn Sailian had three hits each for the Mountaineers.

In the second game, Taylor took the loss and Hill was the winner on a two-hitter. Taylor struck out two and walked six.

Bourassa had single in the second and Taylor singled in the fourth.

Kerry-Lynn Kuhl had three hits for the winners and Hill had two hits and five runs batted in.

The Lady Panthers, 3-7, close out their schedule with two games in Toronto Tuesday against the Seneca Sting.

Canadore, Cambrian College Golden Shield, 3-5, and Conestoga Condors, 3-7, are currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Cambrian has four games left, two against the Durham Lady Lords and two with Mohawk while Conestoga has games against Seneca and Mohawk.
