Jr. Trappers blank Nickel Barons

The Trappers used 7 different goal scorers and Dustin Hummel recorded his second straight shutout as the North Bay Jr. Trappers blanked the Sudbury Nickel Barons 7-0 at Memorial Gardens on Friday night.

Duane Wainman, Graham Pickard, Trevor Hunt, Kyle Arenson, Cole Klippenstein, Corbin Bean, and Samuel Blanchet scored the Jr. Trappers in the win.

Hummel turned aside all 14 attempts he faced in posting his second straight shutout while running a personal scoreless streak to 146 minutes and three seconds as he won his third start in succession.

Connor Gilmartin and Brandon Janke dished out two assists apiece to aid North Bay’s offensive cause.

Alex Laino started for Sudbury and suffered the loss allowing five goals on 16 shots as the Nickel Barons fell to 12-10 overall. Micheal Muzyka turned aside 19 of 21 in relief.

The Trappers are back on the ice again Saturday night as they travel to Kirkland Lake to face the Gold Miners.

The Trappers next home game is Thursday, November 29th when the Gold Miners make a visit to Memorial Gardens. Game time is 7 pm at Memorial Gardens.
