The North Bay Ice Boltz Pee Wee “B” Girls hockey team participated in the Barrie Sharkfest tournament, which took place on the November 16th to 18th weekend.

The girls played a strong team from Waterloo on Friday who had been undefeated in their league play with 4 wins and a tie coming into the tournament.

The Ice boltz started slow but found their rhythm to get the 2–0 win over the Ravens.

In their second game Saturday morning, they were in tough with the Calendon Coyotes.

Playing strong defense and executing a relentless fore check, the Ice Boltz came out on top with a 1–0 victory in what was an amazing game to watch with both teams leaving everything out on the ice.

Saturday evening the girls met up with the host club, the Barrie Sharks. Staying with their game plan while adding some offense the Boltz came away with a convincing 6–1 victory.

In the semifinals they won against the Oakville Hornets 4-1, which sent them to the finals against the Waterloo Ravens.

Waterloo was up to the task wanting to redeem themselves from the round robin loss to the Ice Boltz. With a strong forecheck of their own, the Ravens were not going away easily.

The Ice Boltz defense adjusted well, the forwards back checked hard, and the goaltending was fantastic. A good all-round team effort that got them to the final game proved to be the recipe in the 1–0 win.

Congratulations goes out to all of the girls who fought hard all weekend long and brought home the Gold Medal.
