Ice Boltz have great experience at Lady Senators Winter Classic

The Midget AA Ice Boltz returned from the lady Senators Winter Classic on a positive note,After winning their pool with a 3-1 record they dropped their Quarter final match 4-2(Empty net) to Saugeen Maitland Lightning.

The Midget AA Ice Boltz had a positive experience at the Lady Senators Winter Classic. 

,After winning their pool with a 3-1 record they dropped their quarterfinal match 4-2 to Saugeen Maitland Lightning.

During round robin play the Boltz defeated the Nepean Wildcats U18 team 5-2, then they were defeated in their second game to the Kitchener lady Rangers 5-1.

Friday Morning the team and staff took part in an Ottawa University tour with the assistant coach and head recruiter of the Gee Gees female hockey team.

The Ice Boltz got the opportunity to tour the hockey facilities and the university.

On Saturday the team met up with the #6 ranked team in the country, the Whitby Wolves.

With the team needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The young team played possibly their best game of the season with a tight 2-1 decision.The Ice Boltz scored with 11 secs left in the game to defeat the Wolves.The game was fast and entertaining and full of emotion.

"The Whitby versus North Bay game was one of the best games I have seen this season including all PWHL games," said one of many scouts from the university level which attended the event. 

The Whitby team went on to win the tournament going 6-1 with their only loss coming to the Ice Boltz.

Saturday afternoon the Boltz would defeat Gloucester Stars 2-1to secure top spot in the Agosta Division in pool play.

In the quarterfinal, the Boltz playing their third game of the day started slow and couldn't recover from a 3-1 Saugeen lead.

In the third, they would make it 3-2 with half a period to go and continued to apply pressure but couldn't solve Saugeen's goaltender.

The Lightning would score an empty net goal with a minute left to secure the victory.

The coaching staff was extremely happy with the play of team, and they are excited with how far they have come this season.

Next up the team will Finnish up its LLFHL regular season this coming weekend with 3 games in Sudbury.
