The North Bay Midget AA Ice Boltz Hockey Club is once again partnering with the Barrie Jr. Sharks Hockey Team.

The agreement between the Ice Boltz and the Provincial Women’s Hockey League team will be for the next two seasons.

This partnership will assist elite female hockey players from Northern Ontario the opportunity to experience the dedication, passion and effort required to play the game past the Midget AA level.

"In the past talented female hockey players from the North have been isolated somewhat from the opportunities that are available for them,” stated Ice Bolts head coach Jayde Wolfe.

“By joining forces with Duane Eldridge (Head Coach) and the Barrie Jr. Sharks (PWHL) Hockey Club we are able to expose our players to the next level of hockey throughout the season in many positive ways.”

Beginning with the 2015-2016 season, the Midget AA Ice Boltz were part of a development program for those players wishing to play in the Provincial Women's Hockey League or to pursue other future hockey opportunities such as NCAA or CIS by remaining in Northern Ontario.  Over this short period of time 9 former Ice Boltz players have moved onto the PWHL and of these players, 2  have recently received Hockey Canada invitations.

"The Barrie Jr. Sharks of the PWHL are pleased to announce our continued affiliation with the North Bay Ice Boltz Midget AA Hockey Team. Our affiliation will provide players from Northern Ontario the opportunity to experience hockey at the PWHL level in practice and game environments and enable us to identify potential future players for our program,” said Duane Eldridge, head coach for the Barrie Jr. Sharks.

This partnership provides our Midget AA team the opportunity to participate in practices, games and events with the Barrie Jr. Sharks hockey team.

Graduating Ice Boltz players who have moved onto the Jr. Sharks program for the 2017/18 season include Malory Dominico, Alexe Clavelle, Hannah Irwin, Sarah Irwin, Madie Stockfish, Britney Zack and Lily George.
