Hawks sweep Panthers in home opener

It was a Saturday of celebration at Canadore College as the school hosted its first regular season OCAA Men's Basketball game.
It was a Saturday of celebration at Canadore College as the school hosted its first regular season OCAA Men's Basketball game.

To celebrate the home opener and OCAA basketball returning to the school for the first time in 20 years, Canadore hosted a triple header including the Men's and Women's Varsity Volleyball teams in action as well.

Shayne Kux led the Panthers basketball squad with 20 points but it wasn't enough as the Humber Hawks defeated the Panthers 88-67. Tyrone Dickson led the Hawks with a game-high 23 points.

In Women's Varsity Volleyball action, the Humber Hawks swept the Panthers 3-0. Janelle Lalonde led the Panthers with 5 kills and Mackenzie Mills finished with 4 service aces.

The Panthers' men also had a tough time versus the Humber Hawks. They also fell 3-0 to Humber. Dan Trudul led the Panthers with 7 kills and Jordan Gardiner had 6 digs.

The Panthers will be busy at home next weekend at the Education Centre Gymnasium.

On Friday November 16th the Panthers men’s and women’s volleyball teams will be playing Redeemer at 6 & 8:00 p.m. respectively. On Saturday, November 17th the men’s basketball team will hit the court first at 1:00 p.m. against Redeemer followed by our men’s and women’s volleyball teams who will take on St. Clair College at 6 and 8:00 p.m. Finally, on Sunday November 18th the men’s basketball team will finish up the weekend as they play host to St. Clair at 1:00 p.m.
