KAPUSKASING, ON - Brennan Roy scored at 9:26 of overtime as the Kapuskasing Flyers defeated the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Jake Staples scored twice for the Trappers.

Singles went to Nathaniel McLeod and Tyler Peters.

Roy had 2 goals to pace the Flyers. Brenden Locke, Zack Dorval and Marc Dube had the other goals for the Flyers.

Trappers head coach Mike Reise was pleased with the effort on the weekend.

"We talked as a team about our defensive end play and what we had to do to stay competitive," said Reise.

"It's where we really needed to work harder. We were second in the league for our scoring this season, but we were also second highest for goals against, so that’s where we wanted to focus.

"Our defence moved the puck really well this weekend, they simplified their game and it helped. We had our forwards coming back hard and helping out in our zone."

The loss evens the best-of-five Great North Midget League series at 1-1. Game 3 is back in North Bay on Saturday, February 16th. Game time is 7:20 at West Ferris arena.
