GMHL Playoffs - Titans crush Voyageurs 12-2

The Temiscaming Titans opened their best of five series against the Mattawa Voyageurs on Thursday night at the Centre. The outcome of the game was a convincing victory of 12-2 for the home team.

It took almost 12 minutes of play for the first goal to be scored.

And it was the visitors that opened the scoring.

Cody Lacelle scored on wrist shot that eluded Titans starter Aaron Boyce.

But Mattawa's next goal would come about 42 minutes later as the Titans scored a dozen goals in between.

In the first, Bryn Roberts and Cam Moffat gave the home team a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

This was increased to 8-1 after 40 minutes with goals coming from former Voyageur Ashton Haley, Justin Norris, Marc-Alain Begin, Byron Katapaytuk and Cam Moffat, who was selected the games first star, with a pair to give him a hat trick to go along with three assists.

The Titans cruised in the third period with goals from Drew Moffat, Katapaytuk, Begin and Haley each with their second goal.

Nicolas Fournier chipped in with 5 helpers. The other Mattawa goal was by Evan Sutton.

The final shot count was 68-34 Titans. Besides Moffat the other game stars were Nicolas Fournier & Byron Katapaytuk.

Game #2 goes Friday night at the Centre, puck drop is 8pm.

Game three is in Mattawa Saturday evening.
