Glitz, Glamour and Celebrities at Lakers Home Opener

The Nipissing Lakers Hockey team will renew an old rivalry when the team opens the regular season at Memorial Gardens this Friday at 7:00 p.m. versus the Ryerson Rams. Last year the Lakers closed out the regular season with a dominate 7-3 victory over the Rams. Ryerson, however, edged the Lakers in the standings by two points, clinching the sixth spot in the OUA East.

The Lakers season opener will feature live dance performances and a special appearance by a television sports personality, Cabbie. The OTC Dance Group will perform routines choreographed by former Toronto Raptors Dance Pack team captain, Mindy Conto. The dance group will feature local and out of town dancers.

Popular sports personality Cabbie, from the Score, will make a live guest appearance at the Lakers game Friday night. Cabbie will be joined by Nipissing University officials to drop the puck to start the Lakers sophomore season.

Fans can purchase tickets for the Lakers home opener at the Memorial Gardens box office between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or by calling 474-3770. The Nipissing Lakers Hockey Team will be holding extended box office hours on Thursday, September 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
