Elite Alpine Ski Cross continues to excel

It has been a busy month for North Bay’s Elite Alpine Ski Cross (EASX)! Elite Alpine Ski Cross’ season officially began in early January, and they have been training extensively at the Laurentian Ski Hill ever since.

It has been a busy month for North Bay’s Elite Alpine Ski Cross (EASX)!

Elite Alpine Ski Cross’ season officially began in early January, and they have been training extensively at the Laurentian Ski Hill ever since. EASX is the first team to focus on athlete development in Ski Cross and all other disciplines of downhill ski racing. Developing versatile skiers U8 to FIS.

The cold temperatures and heavy snow falls this month did not stop North Bay’s Elite Alpine Ski Cross Team, as they landed many podium finishes.

On January 18, 19 and 20, Elite Alpine Ski Cross competed in the first O-Cup SX Series Race of the season at Sir Sam’s Ski Resort.  

Elite Alpine Ski Cross had athletes competing in all categories: U10, U12, U14, U16 and OPEN.

Also, on January 18, 19, and 20, EASX’s FIS team was competing in FIS NorAM races at Calabogie Ski Resort.

Elite Alpine Ski Cross was asked to host the Sir Sam’s FIS NorAM, and worked very hard with Sir Sam’s Resort and team of volunteers for months organizing to make the event a success. Athletes from all over the world competed, some of which include: Australia, Great Britain, China, USA, and Canada.

On January 26, athletes of Elite Alpine Ski Cross travelled to Blue Mountain where they cheered on the Canada Ski Cross World Cup Team. EASX athletes not only cheered from the sidelines, but they also met our Canadian athletes, taking photos and getting autographs. Canada’s Brady Leman won (for the men), and Marielle Thompson took 2nd place (for the women).

Following this event, EASX’s U14 and U16's participated in a World Cup training camp at Blue, where they had the opportunity to ski a World Cup track and train with Development team athletes.

EASX’s FIS team then travelled back to Calabogie Ski Resort for another FIS NorAM race.

This past weekend, February 1, 2, and 3, EASX competed in another O-Cup Series Race at Craigleith in Collingwood, Ontario.  This race had over 150 athletes!

Elite Alpine Ski Cross had athletes competing in all categories: U10, U12, U14, U16 and OPEN.
