Randy Edmonds is preparing for a new coaching adventure. No, we’re not talking about the new coaching position he took in the spring.

The former Skyhawks coach and new head coach of the Augsburg Panthers of the DEL pro league in Germany will be among a select few Canadian coaches to take part in a High Performance Clinic put on by Hockey Canada next week in Winnipeg.

Edmonds along with another North Bayite, Carl Taylor who coaches at the University of Waterloo, will get to rub shoulders with NHL coaches like Marc Crawford, Mike Babcock, Bob Hartley and Wayne Fleming.

“It’s going to be really exciting anytime you can work with these guys is it’s a great learning experience,” Edmonds said.

“The contact network you create when you go through these clinics you take it with you years down the road.”

Edmonds adds that this clinic will not involve sitting in a theatre watching power point presentations or hours of studying, instead the participants will coach intersquad games and run practices for the Team West Under 17 team.

The course also includes sports psychology for the athlete, power play, game preparation, penalty kill, practice preparation and many other topics. For the final day each participant must complete a hockey developmental video to be presented to Hockey Canada for approval.
