A pair of local players had their season end on a disappointing note on Wednesday night.

Lucas Brown of Powassan and Michael Silveri of North Bay, are members fo the Trenton Golden Hawks who are representing the Central Region at the Royal Bank Cup taking place this year in Cobourg, Ontario.

The Golden Hawks got their by winning the Dudley-Hewitt Cup, which they hosted back in early May.

Silveri netted the game winning goal in a 2-1 win over the Georgetown Raiders in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup final.

However, that success didn’t carry over to the national event as they were officially eliminated from the tournament after dropping a 4-0 decision to the Penticton Vees.

The loss dropped the Golden Hawks record to no wins, three losses and one overtime loss during the national junior ‘A’ championship.

Brown was with the Golden Hawks last season when the Trenton squad won the Dudley Hewitt Cup and then lost in the semi-finals of the RBC Cup last year in Lloydminster, Alberta.

The RBC Cup 2016 also had two local players at the event as local goaltender Colton Point, who was on the Carleton Place Canadians, joined Brown at the national championship tournament.
