Dennis brings winning attitude to Battalion Hockey Operations

“Obviously Stan brings a wealth of experience and someone in my role who is a bit green in the hockey operations side, it’s a great opportunity.”

Adam Dennis will be busy.

The New Battalion assistant coach will be taking over a new and unique role with the Battalion as an assistant coach, assistant general manager, along with being a goaltending coach.

Dennis met the North Bay media for the first time on Wednesday as he begins his new role with the Troops after spending the past two season at the Ontario Hockey League office as the Director of Player Recruitment - a honourable title he is relinquishing to come here to North Bay.

“I love the game, obviously I was a goalie but I never considered myself a goalie I always considered myself a hockey player first so always interested in ways of getting a competitive edge on the ice so the titles are one thing but I think at the end of the day we are all going to work together and we are a team and nothing is going to be done individually so really the titles are one thing but I it will take away what we all want to do and that’s win hockey games,” Dennis stated about the multiple roles he will have with the team.

On the ice, Dennis knows how to win.  The 2005 6th round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, and as a goaltender won a Robertson Cup and Memorial Cup title with the London Knights that same year.

“Anytime you get into a playoff it is all about your mindset so it’s just changing the mindset that conference finals and finals are awesome but you have to aim for higher than that and I think that given what we have here in North Bay there’s a group that is capable of doing some great things it’s just really about getting that belief so I’m a big believer in mental health so I think I will work quite well with the guys in that regard,” said Dennis.

The new assistant coach believes he still has a lot to learn from this Battalion hockey operations staff.

“Obviously Stan brings a wealth of experience and someone in my role who is a bit green in the hockey operations side, it’s a great opportunity,” he said.

“I really look at this as my masters in hockey operations to learn from a guy like Stan Butler and to work with guys like Matt Rabideau and John Dean, it’s going to be an incredible experience for me.”
