Coach4Food closing in on 100,000 pounds

With one day remaining, Tom Hedican's 2012 Coach4Food program is poised to break the 100,000-pound barrier. Scollard Hall Bears alumni and former hockey star Marty Martinello and The Fraser Tavern came through with large donations to boost the program in the final days.
Martinello added 3,000 pounds while the Fraser dropped another 3,750 pounds with their donation to the program, before another dozen people and organizations came to the plate. Combined, Antebi Professional Coaching and Consulting, ONTERA Customer Service, John and Jenny Weber, Robinson's Trout Lake Pharmasave and staff, the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association, the auction of Ken Peroff's Brampton Battalion jersey to Harry Goulais, The Hampton Inn, Dawstar Freelancing and Video, Skater's Edge Source for Sports, Community Living, and an anonymous donation, all combined to add 4,024 more pounds.
Combined, that drives this year's total to 99,285 pounds for the North Bay Food Bank.
"We have no practices left, so if we are to break the six figure mark, it will just be by people letting me know they wish to add to the total by Sunday," said Hedican. "It would be amazing to do it but we will have to wait and see."
Any organization or individuals wishing to add to the total can email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added into the final tally.
Coach4Food was inspired by Hedican's idol, rock legend Bruce Springsteen, and his work with food banks around the world.
All donations will be added together Sunday, Dec. 23, with the final total being announced Monday, Dec. 24 .
Hedican, a professional goaltending consultant, is running practices using NHL and European skill drills for teams which do food drives for the North Bay Food Bank.
