Boltz finish season off with two wins, loss and a tie

The North Bay Bantam AA Ice Boltz completed their Lower Lakes Female Hockey League regular season by playing 4 games in 3 days.

Saturday afternoon the Boltz headed to The GTA to play a game against the Toronto Leaside wildcats.On some questionable calls the Boltz took the first 8 penalties and found themselves trailing 4-1 midway through the second.The girls continue to show the never give up attitude and battled back to score the go ahead goal late in the third to hang onto a 6-5 Victory.

Sunday Morning the Boltz were facing a desperate team in the North York  Storm who are fighting for their playoff lives.

The storm needing a victory to get into the final playoff spot played a tight checking game and took a 1-0 lead into the third.The third period was all Boltz as they continued to play with confidence and patience and sticking to the game plan with a hard forecheck scoring two goals and coming away with their fourth come from behind victory in a row.

The third game was a 6 p.m. start at the MasterCard centre against the 5th rank team in Ontario the Etobicoke Dolphins.

The Dolphins are at the top of central division standings and they started off strong pressuring the Boltz and putting pucks on net.As the game went on the Boltz started to find their legs and started to get chances of their own.The pace of the game picked up only to see the dolphins score two quick goals.The  girls were trying to get back into the game but the dolphins goalie came up with two huge saves as she stopped back to back breakaways.

The Dolphins would get two more in the second taking a 4-0 lead into the third.

The third period was all Boltz as they were looking to come from behind again scoring early and continued to pressure but couldn't beat the dolphins goalie who was on top of her game making save after save for the victory.

The team loaded up the bus and headed home trying to get some rest because arch rivals Sudbury lady Wolves were waiting rested for a Monday night game in North Bay.

The Boltz were looking for their first victory over the wolves this season as both teams will meet up later this month for provincial play downs.

Having arrived late sunday night and overcoming some minor injuries and a flu bug the girls put together a gusty effort and played a solid game with some timely saves from their goalie.

The game was tied heading to the third 2-2. Midway through the third the Boltz would strike for the go ahead goal,Hanging onto a one goal lead and a questionable crosschecking call the Boltz would kill off the penalty only to see the Wolves tie the game with 2.9 secs left.

The Boltz finished in fourth spot in the central division with a 9wins,7 loses and 6 ties and will

Face the Mississauga Chiefs in the first round of playoffs starting in February.

The Boltz are one of the hottest Bantam AA teams in Ontario since December with a 10-3-2 record in their last 15 games.
