It's official. Guy Blanchard told BayToday.ca that he will not be taking over as head coach of the North Bay Skyhawks this fall and will continue to operate as the club's General Manager.

Rumours of Blanchard coaching again surfaced after head coach Randy Edmonds took a coaching position with a professional team in Germany this spring.

Blanchard says he's very very close to a deal with his new head coach and hopes to make a formal announcement next week.

Blanchard had his list of candidates weaned down to two, and one of them has been rumoured to be North Bay native Kevin Kerr, who retired this spring after breaking the all-time minor pro hockey goal scoring record.
