The North Bay Spartans U12 Boys basketball team was in Bracebridge Saturday participating in a mini-tournament with 3 other teams.
Their opener saw them face a good Midland Magic team with a close first half but North Bay pulled away in the second half to win 41-28 as the boys looked to shake off some of the holiday rust.
In their second game, the Spartans cruised past a young and upstart Kirkland Lake Swamp Donkeys squad 58-16.
In their final game of the day, the U12 boys found themselves down early against an improved Bracebridge Breakers team who they had previously defeated by almost 40 points.
The Spartans clawed their way back with lockdown defense and fierce determination to win 33-28.
Saturday’s results push the U12 Spartans record to 7 wins and 2 losses so far in their young season.
They still have 3 major tournaments to go before Provincials in Niagara Falls this April.
