Bears archers on target in Richmond Hill

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears took home gold in all four compound categories.

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH) Bears archery team travelled to the Ontario High School Archery Invitational Tournament in Richmond Hill, ON Wednesday, May 18th to compete in a provincial competition, pitting male and female archers against each other. 

The event challenged team and individual competition, using compound bows in the limited and unlimited categories. For the second year in a row, and only the second time in the Ontario High School Archery Invitational Tournament history, SJSH took home gold in all four compound categories.

The gold medal winning teams were comprised of 19 archers, of which 3 are new to the sport.

Along with the team gold medals Bears archers had great success individually.  Hannah Poulin and Katie Watson were rewarded with gold and silver medals respectively for their field-topping results in the girls’ compound limited individual category.  Ashton Richard was awarded individual gold in boy’s limited shooting as well.

  • Boys limited – Ashton Richard, Avery Richard, Michael Zhou, Matthew Zhou
  • Girls unlimited – Alexis Voyer, Teagan Nodder, Meghan Peterson, Brittany Stitt, Kendra Chirico
  • Boys unlimited – Dustin Plant, Trayvin Leroy, Tim Godsey, Jaden Mills, Grant Walton, Everett Morgan
  • Coaches – Yves Perreault, Helen and Brandon Brooks, Barry Descheno, Joey Pigeon, Kevin Hotten, Mark Mechefske
