The Battalion hockey club will get its first chance to skate on Memorial Gardens ice on Saturday afternoon.

The Battalion was in the neighbourhood in Friday night in Sudbury as four bus loads of Battalion faithful took part in a tail gate party at Memorial Gardens late Friday afternoon before jumping on the busses to watch North Bay's future OHL team play.

The Battalion fell short of an incredible comeback in front of the large North Bay contingent.

Down 4-0 after 40 minutes, the Battalion dominated the final frame outshooting the Wolves 24-6 and scoring 3 times in a 4-3 loss.

Brandon Robinson got the Battalion on the board with a pair of goals and Patrik Machac added the 3rd Battalion goal at the 12:58 mark of the third period.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Josh Leivo helped stake the Wolves to the big lead with 2 goals and 2 assists.

The loss drops the Battalion record to 19-16-3-3 and sit in 3rd in Eastern Conference Central Division.

Despite the loss, the Battalion appreciated the North Bay support on the road in Sudbury.

"Tough loss for the boys tonight but great to see all of the fans from North Bay coming to support us, #greatfans, #theylovetheirhockey," stated Battalion defenceman Brenden Miller on twitter late Friday night.

The Battalion will hit the ice from 1:30 to 2:30 on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gardens. The practice will be open to the public.
