Barons win York University Classic

Barons win tourney thanks to 2-0 win over Lewis from Thornhill.

The Algonquin Barons were in York Thursday and Friday to compete in the York University Classic.

The team started off slowly on Thursday versus Mayfield (Calédonien) and Norwood putting them selves in a must win situation on Friday.

The team rallied and had a convincing win over Lester B Pearson (Montreal) 6-2 to move on to an elimination game versus the Gryphons (Gravenhurst).

The Barons kicked it into high gear and played their best hockey of the season winning 3-0 and moving onto a championship game versus Lewis (Thornhill).

The boys continued their winning ways and controlled the game from start to finish and capturing the cup by a 2-0 score.

The Barons are now getting ready to represent the NDA at AAA NOSSA In Sudbury. 

The Barons team includes: Nicholas Raymond, Ozzie Kirkby, Darcy Korswagen, Cole Chasse, Riley Desjardins, Brock Ledoux, Ryan Fournier, Adam Howe, Mathieu Desjardins, Taylor Aiken, Matthew Cirullo, Yannic Castonguay, Gavin Nesterenko, Logan Evans, Nicholas Tessier, Joel Leblanc, Jonathan Morency, Laurent Cloutier, Alexandre Cloutier. Coaches are Jesse Carr, Mat Sneddon and Dan Tessier
