Barons girls get OFSAA split, Boys shutout in Sudbury

The Algonquin Barons girls squad opened up with a convincing 4-0 shutout over the Kapuskasing Kolts in the opening game of the OFSAA "A" playdowns taking place in North Bay this week.

Corrina Gamache led the offensive attack with a pair of goals, with singles going to Krista Charland and Kristine Zwolak.

Zwolak, who played goal in the 1st half for the Barons, shared the shutout with Brianne Paulin.

Barons girls lose to Rockway

The Algonquin Barons girls couldn't muster enough offense in game two of OFSAA at Cundari field. The girls were shutout 1-0 by Rockway Menonite leaving the NOSSA champs with a record of 1-1.

The Barons third game takes place Friday morning at Cundari field as they take on the U of T school.

Quarter-final playoff action begins Friday afternoon with the OFSAA final taking place at 3 p.m. on Saturday also at Cundari field.

Algonquin Barons shutout in boys opener

In the OFSAA "A" boys soccer championships taking place in Sudbury, the Barons were shutout 2-0 by Niagara.

The Barons next action is Friday morning at 9 a.m. when they take on L'Essor from Windsor.
