Ecole Secondaire Catholique Algonquin is hosting the 45th Annual Barons Cross-Country Running Race on Wednesday, September 18 at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay.

More than 1000 participants will compete in 16 categories.

Races begin at 10:10 a.m. with the Grade 3 and 4 boys and girls races and will culminate with the Senior girls, Senior Boys and Open races at 1:40 p.m.

“We’re excited to expand our competition to include the grade 3’s this year and to provide a new and challenging course by using the Steve Omischl Complex," said race organizer and Barons XC teacher/coach Monique Dubytz.

“There is no other Invitational Cross-Country event like this in the province where we hold not only the High School events but also races for the elementary students," she added.

A complete guide to the event is available at the competition website at: http://baronscrosscountry.info

In case of inclement weather, the event will occur on September 19th.
