Ballantyne holds senior lead (new)

Ross Ballantyne holds the lead after two rounds in the Investors Group Ontario Senior Men's Championship at the North Bay Golf & Country Club.

The Midland golfer had his second straight par 72 Wednesday and has a three-stroke lead going into final round.

Ballantyne had birdies on the 15th and 17th holes to match par. He opened with a bogey on the first hole and went two-over with another bogey on the fifth. He had a birdie on the sixth and parred his way through to the 14th hole.

Four-time Ontario Seniors’ champ Patrick Suraj of Etobicoke is second at 147 after an even par round of 72. Tom Yurcich of St. Catharines recorded a 74 to sit in third at 148.

North Bay’s Mike Poupore had a 78 to go along with a first round 74 and is at 152, eight over par.

Gord McGuinty is at 12 over par after rounds of 80 and 76 and Chris Hundley of South River had rounds of 75 and 82 for a 157 total, 13 over par.

Missing the cut were George Franko, 83-78, Don Miller, 79-86 and Peter Moffat, 84-82.
