After dropping a 5-4 decision to the Timmins Technosub Rangers on Saturday morning, the North Bay Athletics bounced back with a 6-2 victory Saturday night and followed that up with a 4-2 win Sunday morning at Pete Palangio arena to win the best of 3 Northern Ontario Bantam AAA Hockey League playoff series 2 games to 1.

Mathew Pepin led the way offensively for the Athletics with a goal and an assist in Sunday's contest.

Timmins finished last in the 5 team Bantam league with only 3 regular season wins. The Athletics move on to Sault Ste. Marie to battle the league champs in the next round starting next Saturday. It will be a daunting task for the North Bay squad as the Soo finished with a remarkable 32 wins 1 loss and 1 tie during the regular season.
